Dream meaning Dreaming of losing your keys

Lost keys in a dream are read through what a key opens. A key opens provision, a closed matter, or authority over a house or a work, so losing it is an opening closed for a time, a trust left unguarded, or a responsibility forgotten.

Searching for keys in a hurry before leaving is a matter pressing on the dreamer that needs its means gathered before they act; finding them again is recovering what was delayed, and it often comes after retracing one's steps, in dealings as in the dream.

Losing the keys to one's home is a household matter the dreamer has let slip, or being kept from the family's affairs for a time; the keys to a car are a journey or a plan held back; the keys to a workplace or a shop are a livelihood that needs attention. A key that will not fit the lock is the wrong means for a matter, and the dream counsels seeking the right one; a key that breaks is a way blocked for a while.

Handing one's keys to another is entrusting a matter to them; the Qur'an commands that trusts be rendered to those to whom they are due, a verse remembered with the key of the Kaaba, which the Prophet returned to its keepers after the conquest of Mecca. The one given the keys should be one who deserves them.

Finding an old key is an old opening restored, such as an inheritance, a skill or a relationship, and finding a key that belongs to someone else is a trust to return. Being locked out and let in by a family member is help from one's own people. The tradition's word at any loss, small or great, is "We belong to God and to Him we return," followed by asking Him to bring back what was lost.
