Dream meaning Dreaming of a golden key

A key in a dream is an opening: of provision, of knowledge, of a closed matter, of authority over whatever lies behind the lock. A golden key is that opening joined with honour and wealth. The Prophet said, "While I was sleeping, I was brought the keys of the treasures of the earth, and they were placed in my hand," and his companions lived to see those treasures opened.

Keys placed in the dreamer's hand are doors of provision and authority being given. Being handed a golden key by a person of standing is a trust, a position or a benefit from them; finding a golden key is an opening that comes without searching, and holding many keys is many doors of good, or much knowledge.

Turning a golden key easily in a lock is a matter opened with ease: a need met, a marriage agreed, a house or a work entered. A key that will not turn is a matter not yet ripe, or the wrong means for it, and the dream counsels seeking the right door. A key that breaks in the lock is a way blocked for a time.

The interpreters are wary of gold on men, so for a man a golden key is an opening that brings wealth with its test, to be handled with gratitude and care; for a woman it is honour and adornment in a matter opened.

A key to Paradise, or a key given in a mosque, is a good deed or a word of faith that opens the way: Wahb ibn Munabbih said that "There is no god but God" is the key to Paradise, but every key has teeth, and the teeth are the deeds that make it turn.
