Dream meaning Dreaming of a rope

A rope in a dream is a covenant and a means, whether the bond with God, a pact between people, a marriage or an obligation, and it is the way by which one rises or is rescued.

The Qur'an says, "Hold fast, all together, to the rope of God," and a rope let down from the sky is the truth and the faith by which God raises those who hold it: a man once told the Prophet he had seen a rope reaching from earth to heaven, and that the Prophet took hold of it and rose, and others after him, and Abu Bakr read the rope as the truth the Prophet was upon.

Climbing a rope is rising in standing through a firm means; a rope that breaks is a pact or a means cut, and a rope joined again is the matter restored. Being thrown a rope in water or in a pit is rescue and help that arrives; drawing water with a rope is provision gained through effort.

Being tied with a rope is being bound by a debt, a vow or an obligation, and being untied is release from it; a rope around the neck is a trust or a debt the dreamer carries. A tangled rope is a matter complicated by many parties, and untangling it is patience rewarded.

A cord tied in knots that someone blows upon, or knots found hidden in the house, is read as sihr, for the Qur'an names those who blow on knots among the harms one seeks refuge from. Undoing the knots in the dream is its undoing. The Prophet himself was shown in a dream, by two angels at his head and his feet, where the sihr worked against him had been hidden, and God cured him of it.

Ruqya with the chapters of Daybreak and Mankind lifts such work.
