Dream meaning Dreaming of drowning

Drowning in a dream is being overwhelmed by worldly affairs, by debts and demands, or by the power of someone stronger, and rescue is the relief God sends through a hand, a rope or a way out.

Sinking in the sea is being swept into the affairs of the powerful or into a matter too large to carry alone; sinking in a river or a flood is a hardship that comes with force for a season; struggling in murky water is a trial mixed with confusion, while clear water, even deep, is a trial whose way through can be seen.

Coming up again and reaching the shore is safety after hardship, a debt settled or a worry lifted, and for one who has erred it is repentance accepted. Being pulled out by a known person is help that will come from them; by a stranger, support from an unexpected quarter; by no one visible, relief from God alone.

Rescuing someone else from the water is being the cause of their deliverance, or a good deed that will be returned. Watching someone struggle in the water without being able to reach them is a worry for them that calls for prayer on their behalf.

Jonah, in the darkness of the sea, called out, "There is no god but You, glory be to You, I was among the wrongdoers," and God says, "We answered him and saved him from distress, and so We save the believers." The interpreters read every rescue from water in the light of that deliverance, and his words are the remembrance to keep after such a dream.
