Guidance held with care, insight without haste

Dream meaning Dreaming of a road

The road in a dream is the dreamer's path in life and in religion, and its condition says how that path is going. A straight, wide, lit road is the right way, guidance and a matter going well, and the Qur'an's own prayer is "guide us to the straight path." A narrow, broken or overgrown road is difficulty, a matter grown hard, or a turning from what is right that asks to be corrected.

A crossroads is a decision truly before the dreamer, and the tradition's answer to it is istikhara; losing the road, or finding the map unreadable, is a matter in which the dreamer has lost the way and needs counsel. Climbing a road uphill is effort toward a high aim; going easily downhill is ease, or, if the descent runs unchecked, a slide to guard against.

Walking the road with good companions is help and good company on the way; walking it alone at night is a hardship that ends with the light. Reaching a house, a mosque or a city at the road's end is reaching the aim; a bridge or a gate on the road is a passage from one state to another. Being carried along a road against one's will is being led by another in a matter, to be weighed carefully.
