Dream meaning Dreaming of handcuffs

Handcuffs in a dream close around the hands, the part of us that acts, gives and takes, and the reading begins with who put them there. A well-known saying preserved in the book of dream interpretation in Sahih al-Bukhari distinguishes two kinds of restraint: "I like the fetter and dislike the collar; the fetter is steadfastness in religion."

A binding on the feet is read as firmness that keeps a person on the right path, while an iron ring holding the hands to the neck is a burden: a debt, a wrongdoing, a promise that has hardened into a chain. The Qur'an uses the same picture for stinginess: a hand chained to the neck. Being handcuffed by police or an official is an obligation that will be demanded of you, or a wrong to be answered for.

Cuffing someone else is holding a person to an obligation, and the dream asks that it be done justly. Handcuffs that open or fall away are release, a debt settled or a commitment ended cleanly. Cuffs you could remove at any moment are a restriction you are keeping by choice.
