Dream meaning Dreaming of having an affair

An affair in a dream, your own or your partner's, can leave you guilty, jealous or shaken on waking. It is read as a matter of loyalty and trust, and it is never used to accuse anyone. The reading is built from who strays, with whom, whether the secret comes out, and what you felt. Islamic teaching offers real relief here.

The Prophet taught that dreams are of three kinds: glad tidings from God, distressing dreams from Satan, and the mind speaking to itself. He advised the one who sees a troubling dream to seek refuge in God and leave it untold. He also said that the pen is lifted from the sleeper until he wakes: what happens in a dream is no sin.

The Qur'an tells how Joseph, alone with the woman who desired him, said: God forbid, and held to his integrity. Such a dream is weighed first in the dreamer's dealings, such as a partnership, a promise or work that has divided your loyalty, and only then in the marriage.

Dreaming that you stray is a loyalty being tested, and Joseph's answer is the one the dream asks for; dreaming that your partner strays is a trust in the house that asks to be guarded, not news of betrayal, and it gives no one the right to accuse. An affair with a former partner is an old tie not yet closed; being caught is a hidden matter coming to light.

If the dream touches a real suspicion or temptation, speak honestly and on your own knowledge, never on the dream's authority. If the dream troubled you, follow the Prophet's teaching and tell it to no one, least of all your partner.
