Guidance held with care, insight without haste

Dream meaning Dreaming of a book

A book in a dream is knowledge, news, or a command or covenant, such as a letter of appointment from an authority, a contract or a trust. Holding a book in the right hand is glad news, success and a good account, for the Qur'an says that the one given his record in his right hand will say, "Here, read my book!"; receiving it in the left hand is a matter that calls for repentance while there is still time.

Reading a book with ease is knowledge gained and a matter understood; being unable to read it, or finding it in an unknown script, is a matter still hidden that needs someone learned to open it. Reading the Qur'an in a dream is guidance, relief from worry and blessing on the home, and the verse that was read is often the key to the dream.

A closed or sealed book is a secret or news not yet released, and opening it is its disclosure. Writing a book is knowledge that lasts or a work that will be remembered. A torn, burned or lost book is knowledge neglected, a covenant broken or a matter lost to forgetfulness, and restoring it is repair.

A book given by a person of standing is a charge or an honour from them, and many books in a house are a household of knowledge and good counsel. God said to John, "Take the Book with strength," and the interpreters read a book held firmly as knowledge put into practice.
