Dream meaning Dreaming of going to prison

Prison in a dream is hardship, delay, or a worry or debt that confines. As Joseph's story teaches, it is also protection from a greater harm and a waiting that ends in release.

Being taken to prison is a matter that will hold the dreamer back for a time, or a debt pressing; being imprisoned unjustly is blame carried for another, and Joseph's words, "prison is dearer to me than what they call me to," show how such a trial can end in honour. A dark, narrow cell is a hard confinement; a cell with a window, or a door left open, is a restriction already loosening.

Being released, or seeing the door opened, is relief from worry, a debt paid, or repentance accepted; escaping by force is a way out that brings its own cost. Visiting a prisoner is help owed to someone in difficulty, and praying in prison is patience that brings release. The Prophet said that this world is the believer's prison, so a prison is at times a discipline accepted for the sake of something higher.

The dream is read for the confinement it shows, and it is never used to accuse anyone. If the door stayed shut, ask God for the relief He gave Joseph.
