Dream meaning Dreaming of wind

Wind in a dream is a power that moves what cannot be seen, such as an authority, news or provision on its way, and its nature tells whether it helps or harms. The Qur'an speaks of the winds sent ahead of rain as bearers of good news, and of winds that fertilise, so a gentle wind, cool after heat or carrying the smell of rain, is mercy, relief and provision coming.

When Joseph's shirt was carried out of Egypt, Jacob said, "I sense the scent of Joseph," before the caravan arrived. A wind that brings a known scent is news of an absent loved one, or a meeting drawing near.

God made the wind subject to Solomon, running at his command a month's journey in a morning, so a wind that obeys the dreamer or carries them gently is authority, ease in travel and matters that move at their word. A wind that lifts the dreamer high is a rise in standing, and being set down safely is keeping it.

A harsh or scorching wind is a trial, an authority's anger or a hardship on the land; a wind of dust that blinds is a fitna or a confusion in which the way cannot be seen, and waiting for it to settle is wisdom. Standing firm against the wind is steadfastness in a hard matter; being blown off one's feet is being carried away by events or by other people's words.

A wind that scatters what the dreamer gathered is a gain dispersed, and a warning to secure what matters. The Prophet taught that the wind comes from God with mercy or with punishment, that it is not to be cursed, and that one asks God for its good and seeks refuge from its harm.
