Dream meaning Dreaming of a well

A well in a dream is hidden water: a depth that has to be reached, a supply that sustains only those who draw from it patiently. It holds what lies beneath the surface of your life: knowledge, feeling, faith, and sometimes danger. The Qur'an sets one of its most famous scenes at the bottom of a well.

Joseph's brothers throw him into its darkness, and from that place of betrayal his road to kingship begins, when a traveller lets down a bucket and cries out, "Good news! Here is a boy." The interpreters read a well as a person of depth and generosity, the woman of the household, or a door of livelihood; drawing sweet water is lawful provision or knowledge gained, and a bucket that comes up full is a request granted.

The same scripture speaks of "an abandoned well and a lofty palace," a warning about gifts left unused. Falling into a well is a trial set by others that will turn, as Joseph's did, toward elevation. A dry well is a door of livelihood that has closed for a time, or a source you have stopped visiting; a well overflowing onto the ground is blessing that wants to be shared.

Looking down and seeing clear water far below is a good that needs effort to reach.
