Dream meaning Dreaming of silver

Silver in a dream arrives with a gentler gleam than gold, and it stands for reflected light, purity, fair exchange and a worth that needs tending. Its form matters, whether coins, a ring, a mirror or a vessel, and so does whether it shines or has tarnished black. Scripture weighs silver in both directions.

The Qur'an describes the people of Paradise served from vessels of silver, clear as crystal, and wearing silver bracelets. The Sleepers of the Cave sent one of their number into the city with their silver coins, and in the commentaries it was those old coins that revealed how long they had slept. Joseph was sold for a few counted dirhams, and Judas betrayed Jesus for thirty pieces of silver.

The Prophet wore a silver ring engraved with his name and mission. Wary of gold's name, the interpreters read silver more kindly, as lawful wealth and gentle adornment. Silver coins are modest, honest gain that stays; a silver ring is a trust, an office or a promise kept, as the Prophet's ring carried his seal; silver jewellery for a woman is adornment and a good marriage.

Tarnished silver is a good thing neglected that can be restored, and polishing it is care given to a bond or a gift. A silver vessel is honour and ease, as the vessels of Paradise are silver. Being paid in silver for a wrong, like Joseph's price or Judas's thirty pieces, is a bargain that costs more than it pays.
