Dream meaning Dreaming of a scepter

A scepter in a dream is authority reduced to something the hand can hold. It is the staff of the ruler, and it asks whether power in your life is legitimate, well carried, or about to change hands. The Qur'an gives the staff two unforgettable scenes.

Moses' staff becomes a serpent before Pharaoh and parts the sea, the sign of a mandate from God; and Solomon, the most powerful of kings, died leaning on his staff while the jinn went on labouring for him, until a creature of the earth gnawed through it and he fell.

The interpreters follow both: a staff or scepter in the hand is a strong man's support, rank, or a right to lead, and a broken or eaten staff is authority that has quietly lost its foundation. Receiving a scepter is responsibility coming to you at work, in a family or in a community, with the duty to hold it with justice.

Seeing a scepter in unworthy hands is authority that will not last, as Solomon's staff did not outlast the gnawing. Dropping or losing it is a position held carelessly, to be gripped more firmly now. A plain wooden staff chosen over a jewelled scepter is standing that rests on character and needs no display.
