Dream meaning Dreaming of incense

Incense in a dream is praise and a good name that spreads, prayer and remembrance rising, and a house made pleasant to the angels.

Burning sweet incense, whether aloeswood, frankincense or bakhoor scented with musk, is good words said of the dreamer, a gathering of good people, or a worship accepted; the Prophet loved fragrance, and Ibn Umar used to perfume himself with the smoke of aloeswood, saying that this was how the Messenger of God did it.

Incense filling a house is blessing entering it and a home the angels are glad to enter; carrying a censer through the rooms is protecting the household and clearing what weighed on it. Smoke that is harsh, black or choking is speech that stings, praise mixed with harm, or something in the house that repels the angels.

A dream of foul smoke that returns, with heaviness in the home, is read as a sign that the house needs ruqya, with a good scent to follow it. Incense that will not light is a prayer delayed or a matter not yet ready; incense that burns out at once is a praise or a pleasure that does not last. Offering incense at a holy place is devotion, and receiving incense as a gift is honour and affection.

The Magi brought frankincense to the child Jesus, and the churches of the East still send its smoke up with their prayers.
