Dream meaning Dreaming of a gift

A gift in a dream carries affection, reconciliation and provision, for the Prophet said, "Give gifts to one another and you will love one another." Receiving a gift from a known person is love and goodwill from them, or a favour they will do; from a stranger it is provision arriving from an unexpected place; from a person of authority it is honour, a benefit or a position.

A gift from someone at odds with the dreamer is reconciliation and the end of a quarrel. Giving a gift is seeking closeness, making amends or asking for a need to be met; a gift gladly received is that closeness returned, and a gift refused is an approach turned away.

What the gift is tells more: food is provision, clothing is protection and honour, perfume is praise and a good name, a ring is a bond or a trust, and money is a matter that comes with its obligation. A wrapped gift is good still hidden, and opening it is that good revealed; an empty box is a promise that does not hold. A gift that is spoiled or distasteful is goodwill mixed with an intention that needs watching.

When the Queen of Sheba sent a gift to test Solomon, he answered that what God had given him was better, and the interpreters read a gift that seeks to buy the dreamer's word as a test of what the dreamer holds dear.
