Guidance held with care, insight without haste

Dream meaning Dreaming of a hospital

A hospital in a dream is a place of care and waiting, and it points to what in you needs attention: exhaustion, grief, a wound that has been ignored, or a need to be looked after for once. Your role there, as patient, visitor, doctor or nurse, carries the reading, and so does whether you are admitted, waiting or leaving well. Healing has deep roots in faith.

In the Qur'an, Abraham says: when I am ill, it is He who heals me. A hadith qudsi teaches that whoever visits the sick will find God there. Muslim civilisation built great hospitals open to all: the Nuri bimaristan in Damascus, the Qalawun hospital in Cairo, where musicians played for patients. The word bimaristan itself is Persian, a house for the ill.

Classical interpreters read a physician's care in a dream as glad tidings of recovery, and the whole dream is read on that promise. Being a patient in good hands is recovery coming and a burden lifted; being cared for by a physician is help from someone who knows. Visiting a sick person is a duty of kindness toward them, and the hadith promises that God is found there.

Working in a hospital is a role of care you are carrying for others, with reward in it. A waiting room is a matter on hold whose answer is coming; an operation is something that has to be removed or repaired before things mend; being discharged is recovery and release.
