Dream meaning Dreaming of a fight

A fight in a dream gives anger a body and a name. The conflict is with someone else, with a situation, or with your own self. Notice who you fought, who started it, whether you could strike back, and how it ended. Scripture is honest about human violence and the struggle to master it.

In the Qur'an, Abel refuses to raise his hand against the brother who threatens to kill him, and Moses, after striking a man dead in a quarrel, calls his own act the work of Satan and asks forgiveness. The Prophet said that the strong person is the one who controls himself when angry, and Sufis loved a saying that called the struggle with one's own soul the greater jihad.

Jacob wrestled through the night with a mysterious stranger and would let him go only after receiving a blessing, limping ever after. Rumi tells how Ali, when an enemy spat in his face in battle, lowered his sword, so as to fight for God alone and never for his wounded pride. A quarrel or a fight in a dream is worry and strife.

Fighting a stranger is a trial or an adversary you have not met yet; fighting someone you love is a disagreement with them that is better settled in daylight than left to grow. Winning the fight is gaining the upper hand in a dispute, and losing it is a setback to be met with patience; punches that land weakly are an effort that does not yet reach its aim.

Watching a fight is strife around you that you are wise to stay out of, and making peace in the dream is the dispute ending in reconciliation, which the Qur'an calls best. Answer the anger the dream leaves behind with the ablution and the silence the Prophet taught.
