Dream meaning Dreaming of a stone tablet

A tablet in a dream is writing made to last: law cut into stone, a record beyond casual erasing. It holds commitments, principles and decrees: what has been written for you, and what you are writing with your life.

The Qur'an describes the tablets given to Moses, on which were written "an admonition and an explanation of all things," and recounts how he cast them down in grief when he found his people worshipping the calf, then took them up again once his anger had subsided. It also speaks of the Preserved Tablet on which the Qur'an is kept.

In the Qur'anic schools of North and West Africa, children still learn by writing verses on a wooden tablet, washing it clean, and writing again, a living image of learning engraved on the heart. Interpreters read a tablet in a dream as knowledge, a binding covenant, or guidance that will prove durable.

Receiving a tablet announces principles that will steady you; reading one clearly, understanding of a matter long obscure; breaking one, a promise broken in haste that can still be mended. A blank tablet is a fresh start, and a tablet washed and rewritten is the discipline of beginning again.
