Dream meaning Dreaming of a passport

A passport in a dream is identity in a form that others can inspect: a name, a face, a nationality, the stamps of every border crossed. It appears when the question "who am I, and where do I belong?" becomes practical: a move abroad, a change of status, a new role that asks for proof. A valid passport in your hand is permission: doors are open to you, and you have the standing to walk through them.

A lost or expired passport is a permission lapsing or a standing to be renewed before the next journey. Being turned away at a counter is an approval that is delayed, from an institution or a family. A passport bearing someone else's photograph is a place or a role that belongs to another; a new passport with a new name is a new standing coming to you.

For many families the passport is also history: the queue outside an embassy, a nationality lost or gained, relatives separated by documents. Such dreams carry that inheritance. The interpreters, who knew seals and sealed letters, read them as authority and trust granted, and a passport is read the same way. If the papers were lost, ask God to make the way easy.
