Guidance held with care, insight without haste

Dream meaning Dreaming of an old man or woman

An old person in a dream stands for the dreamer's fortune, for counsel, and for blessing. An unknown old man is the dreamer's own lot, and his strength or weakness is the strength or weakness of that fortune. A dignified, handsome elder who greets the dreamer is good fortune rising, and a feeble or neglected one is a fortune that needs strengthening through prayer, work and good dealing.

An old man who gives advice speaks counsel to be heeded, and one who teaches a verse of the Qur'an or a prayer is guidance; a luminous elder who appears with a blessing and is gone is read by many as help from the unseen.

An old woman is read as the world itself: a cheerful, well-dressed old woman is the world turning kindly toward the dreamer, a season of ease; a bent, ragged or angry one is a hard season, or a world that has turned its face away for a time, to be met with patience and charity.

Helping an elder across a road or carrying their load is a good deed that brings blessing back; mocking or abandoning an elder is a fault to be repaired, for the Prophet said, "He is not of us who does not show mercy to our young and honour to our elders." An elder who is a known grandparent or teacher is that person's prayer and legacy reaching the dreamer.

The interpreters never read an old person in a dream as news of anyone's death, and an old person who becomes young again is a matter renewed and a fortune restored.
