Dream meaning Dreaming of a kiss

A kiss in a dream carries a truth of the mouth: desire, tenderness, blessing, farewell or betrayal pressed against the skin. The reading asks who kissed whom, where the kiss fell (lips, forehead, hand) and whether it was welcome. Kisses mark some of scripture's most human moments. The Song of Songs opens with a longing to be kissed, and the Gospels remember the kiss with which Judas betrayed Jesus.

When a man told the Prophet that he had ten children and had kissed none of them, the Prophet, who was kissing his grandson al-Hasan, answered that mercy is shown to those who show mercy. Umar kissed the Black Stone and said he did so only because he had seen the Prophet kiss it. On feast days, children across the Muslim world kiss their elders' hands.

A kiss is benefit passing between two people, or a wish fulfilled, and the benefit runs the way the kiss runs. A kiss from a beloved is closeness and a wish granted; a kiss from a stranger is benefit that comes from an unexpected quarter; a kiss from someone forbidden to you is benefit from that person or from what they stand for, and it is not read as desire.

A kiss on the forehead is blessing and protection; kissing an elder's hand is honour and gratitude, with good in it for both; a farewell kiss is a parting in good terms. A treacherous kiss is benefit that hides harm, the mark of a false friend, and the dream counsels care without accusing anyone; an unwanted kiss is an imposition.
