Dream meaning Dreaming of a diamond

A diamond in a dream is the hardest thing that shines, and it is value that endures: a commitment, a clear truth, a quality in you that pressure has left unbroken. Ask whether the stone was pure or flawed, cut or rough, given, found or lost. Its name comes from the Greek adamas, the unconquerable.

Diamonds form deep in the earth under immense heat and pressure and are carried to the surface by ancient volcanic eruptions; they are pure carbon, and their fire comes from the way they bend and split light. The most famous stones carry Persian names: the Koh-i-Noor, the Mountain of Light, taken from Delhi by Nader Shah, and the Darya-i-Noor, the Sea of Light, still kept in Tehran.

Istanbul's Topkapı Palace holds the Spoonmaker's Diamond, which legend says was found in a rubbish heap and traded for three spoons. In Buddhism, the Diamond Sutra is named for wisdom that cuts through illusion. The interpreters wrote more of pearls and rubies, and they read precious stones as knowledge, honour or children; a diamond is read in that family, with its own hardness added.

Finding a diamond is honour or a worth that comes to you, or a child who will be a joy; a rough, uncut stone is a good thing that needs patient work before it shows. A flawed or cracked diamond is a precious matter with a weakness in it to be attended to, and a diamond ring is a promise meant to last.

Losing a diamond is a loss of standing or of something precious, to be guarded against; doubting whether a stone is real is a person or an offer whose sincerity you will need to test.
