Dream meaning Dreaming of a demon

A demon in a dream is among the most frightening figures the night can send, and the traditions take it seriously. In Islamic teaching a disturbing dream comes from Shaytan, and the Prophet taught what to do with one: seek refuge in God from its harm, spit lightly to the left three times, turn onto the other side, and keep the dream to yourself, for then it will do you no harm.

Many families add Ayat al-Kursi before sleep, trusting the protection it carries through the night. Interpreters read the figure through its actions. A demon who whispers or bargains is a temptation already near: a dishonest shortcut, a grudge, a desire that would cost your integrity. Driving it off in the dream by reciting Qur'an is a strong sign of faith and of victory over an enemy, visible or hidden.

Being chased by it is a fear that has grown larger in the dark than it is by daylight, and remembrance of God and good company are its remedy. Scholars of the heart also distinguish two whisperings: the self returns again and again to the same desire, while Shaytan moves from one temptation to whatever will lead astray, and the dream often shows which is at work.

Either way the answer is to stand firm, to name the temptation, and to seek protection. Figures that return night after night, with heaviness in the house or on the chest, are a matter for ruqya, which uncovers such a presence and lifts it.
