Dream meaning Dreaming of a mountain

A mountain in a dream rises like a vertical question about aspiration, obstacle and the ascent of the spirit. Where you stand answers it: at the foot looking up, on the slope climbing, stuck on a ledge, at the summit, or watching it tremble. Mountains are where heaven comes close in many traditions.

When Moses asked to see God, the Qur'an says, God revealed Himself to the mountain and it crumbled to dust, and Moses fell unconscious. The Qur'an calls mountains the pegs of the earth, and says that had it been sent down upon a mountain, the mountain would have split apart in awe. Noah's ark came to rest on Mount Judi; the first revelation came in a cave high on the Mountain of Light.

In Attar's Conference of the Birds the Simorgh waits on Mount Qaf at the world's edge. A mountain is also a great person, and climbing one is reaching a high aim. Climbing steadily is an aim pursued and reached with endurance, often through a person of standing; reaching the summit is attainment and a wider view, and praying on it is honour in religion.

A ledge you cannot leave is an effort stalled for a time, and falling is a loss of standing to guard against. A mountain blocking the road is a powerful person or a great obstacle, asking for another route or more time. A trembling mountain is awe, or a person of power shaken, and a mountain crumbling, as it did before Moses, is a great matter humbled before God.

Coming down is bringing what you gained back into daily life.
