Guidance held with care, insight without haste

Dream meaning Dreaming of being held hostage

Being held hostage in a dream is a captivity of the dreamer's affairs: a debt, a hardship, a pressure from a stronger party, or a sin that binds. The ransom and the release are the way out that God opens. Being seized by armed strangers is a trouble from an adversary not yet known; being held by a known person is a claim, a debt or a control that person exercises, and the dream is not a licence to accuse them.

Being held with others is a hardship shared by a household or a group. A ransom paid for the dreamer is deliverance that comes through someone's sacrifice or help; the Qur'an says of Abraham's son, "We ransomed him with a great sacrifice." Paying a ransom for another is settling a debt, making a sacrifice or interceding so that they go free.

Negotiators and mediators who arrive are intercession, a matter resolved through the good offices of others. Escaping from captivity is release from a worry or a confinement; being freed by the authorities is relief through lawful means. Freeing captives is among the deeds the Prophet commanded: "Free the captive, feed the hungry and visit the sick." Seeing oneself release someone is a good work and its reward.

Anyone truly held by threat or force in waking life needs the people and authorities who can protect them, now. Being held night after night in a dark place by figures one cannot see, with a heaviness that follows into the day, is answered with ruqya.
