Two of Swords tarot card

Tarot card meaning Two of Swords

Blindfolded, a woman sits on a stone bench with her back to the sea, two long swords crossed over her chest. A crescent moon hangs above the still water and its rocks. She keeps the balance by refusing to look. This is stalemate: a choice avoided, a truce with oneself.

Upright

There are two options in front of you, and you have closed your eyes. The Two of Swords shows a decision postponed and feelings held at arm's length. The balance cannot last, because your arms are tiring. Take off the blindfold. Look at the facts, and at what you feel about them. A hard choice made is easier than this strain.

Reversed

Once the blindfold slips, the stalemate breaks: information comes out and a choice is made, sometimes forced on you. Reversed, the Two of Swords is also a mind swamped by indecision, or trust given to the wrong person. Now that you see more, decide. Do not tie the cloth back on.

In love

Emotional deadlock. You or your partner avoid a necessary conversation, and keep the peace by not feeling. Alone, you are torn between two people, or between opening up and staying safe. Nothing moves until you admit what you want.

In work

You keep putting a decision off. Two options look equal, or you lack information and do not want to go looking for it. A truce at work holds for the moment. Gather the facts, weigh them honestly, and choose. Sitting on the bench is also a choice.

Yes or no?

Wait. You have not looked at this squarely yet, and no answer holds until you do.
