Five of Cups tarot card

Tarot card meaning Five of Cups

Wrapped in a black cloak, a figure stands with bowed head over three spilled cups, their contents soaking into the ground. Behind him two cups still stand upright, and a bridge crosses the river to a house. He sees only the loss. This is grief, regret, and what remains.

Upright

Something has been lost and it hurts. The Five of Cups does not hurry you past that. Mourn what was spilled; the disappointment is real. Then turn around. Two cups are still standing, and there is a bridge. This card asks you to grieve fully and then to see what you still have, because your sorrow is hiding it from you.

Reversed

The figure turns and sees the cups still standing. This is recovery: a loss accepted, something forgiven, hope coming back. You are ready to cross the bridge. For some, the card reversed shows grief kept hidden and carried too long. Speak it, and it begins to lift.

In love

Sorrow in love: a separation, a disappointment, regret over what was said or left unsaid. Let yourself feel it. Not everything is lost. Between partners, what remains is repaired by turning toward it. If you are alone, stop looking back at the one who left.

In work

A setback: a project failed, an opportunity missed, a plan that did not work. Acknowledge the loss without drowning in it. Take stock of what remains, your skills, your contacts, your experience, and build from there. Regret teaches. After that it should be put down.

Yes or no?

No. There is loss and disappointment here, though not everything is gone.
